SPOTS and RATS

Lady took me to the vet yesterday, by auto rickshaw. They were closed. She had another sleepless night due to the rats. This time she used half a box of aluminum foil, but the rat chewed through it, and walked into the sticky trap. But it is too small. The rat fell into the sink with a ka-BAM, and flailed around trying to get unstuck. It drug the trap around until it managed to break free, making an enormous amount of racket.  It made another mess for Lady to clean up. She called the landlord to come fix the hole.
We went back to the vet today. I look pretty bad. I have lot of spots on my back -the hair came off. I'm a spotty dog and don't look my best. I wore a hoodie to try to cover some of the bad spots. Saw my old vet. He remembered me. I weigh 10.3 kgs. He gave me two oral antibiotics (yea cheese), a new medicated shampoo, and a topical lotion. I have to go back Tuesday. We took a bicycle rickshaw home. It goes slower than the auto rickshaws and I can enjoy the scenery. My vet bill altogether was $20.41. In my old city it would have been $4.23. The big city is much more expensive. Lady's food bill is three times what is was in our other city. My dog chow costs the same.
I hope those rats don't keep Lady up tonight. She wakes me up.

  1. Hi Marley,
Maybe you should introduce the rat's to Mr.'s Smith and Wesson! Tee~Hee~Hee! Sorry I don't have any suggestions on how to get rid of them. Maybe looking it up on the internet will help with some ideas. Can you buy a cage to bait and trap them?

We're so sorry to hear that you're covered in spots. We pray that the shampoo and medication will help you heal fast. Did your Dr. know what it is from? It's no fun being sick. Muffin had to go to the Vet's too yesterday. She has a double ear infection.

Please tell Lady that Mommy loves the sports braclets and is going to research it further. She may have to buy Grandpa Bob one for Christmas. Tho she'd be worried he wouldn't wear it. You know how it is, he has the "there's nothing wrong with me" syndrome.

Again, it's nice to have you back!

    Hugs,
    Lily Belle

Hi Marley and Lady, sorry to hear about the rats. Hopefully, the landlord can get the repairs done which should fix the problem. Also, sorry to hear about Marley's skin condition and hair falling out in spots. One of dear departed boys, Padua, had bad skin condition and fur loss due to a weakened immune system. So, little mites which his body would normally fight off, were far more opportunistic. So,our Vet prescribed a enzymatic shampoo which was very effective. He still had some issues (on his chest) but it was very much reduced and his fur grew back. The brand was Zymox. If the medicine and shampoo you have prescribed now don't end up being effective (I hope they will be, then perhaps you can have discussion with your vet.

    1. Thanks so much Baxter, and Baxtermama. The lotion is called SPECTRAZOLE lotion with Clobestol Propionate, Ofloxacin and Miconazole Nitrate. The shampoo is Ketchlor by Virbac. I took my pills in cheese without spitting them out! Yea for me!

  5. Hope you feel better! Could you have a food allergy, like I do?
OMG $20.41?! I'm going to the vet on Friday and it'll be at least $40 just for an exam!

  6. it costs $55 to just walk through our Vet's door. We hope you get rid of your spots..we hate itchy.

SHE never uses traps because they only seem to maim the rats or mice. SHE uses a rat poison that is contained in little packets and can be put in cupboards so we can't get them. Then the rats go away to die.

  7. The landlord's son is supposed to come today to fix the hole. Lady had to beg after another sleepless night of rat invasion. This time it got into an upper cabinet and knocked over her new vanilla extract! Fortunately it is in a plastic bottle.
