Lady and I were reading about all the tricks Tillman the Skateboarding Bulldog, and Jesse, and Jasmine the Havanese pup can do. I can't do any tricks, but Lady sure can. I have worked really hard training her to do what I want. She is still stubborn about some things. Take for instance our evening walk. If she tugs on my leash I instantly put on the brakes and even back up. If a car is coming and I do that, Lady goes berserk and pulls so hard I go flying out of the way of the car. I don't know why. I am invincible. What's a car going to do to me? Other than that one little area, she is mostly compliant.
I know when it is time to go for my late afternoon walk, so I just go climb on her and lick her in the face and just like that, she gets my leash and off we go!
I stand in front of my empty water dish and look at it, and here she comes with water!
I lift my front paw and she scoops me up and carries up or down the stairs.
I stand by her chair and whisper until she gives me what it is I want.
I bang on the balcony doors, and she comes right away to open them for me.
I stare at an empty food dish and vwalla! She fills it!
I drag my blankie to our bedroom and stand by the bed, and she gives me a lift up.
I drop a wet dead toy on her feet and she plays with me.
I lick her in the face in the morning and roll over, and she scratches my belly!
Yep, I have worked hard to train Lady to do all these tricks and more! Those other dogs may be famous, but I think I have a pretty good deal with Lady. Maybe some day I'll show her off, too.
