March 8 is Holi.
Holi is one of the most colorful and vibrant
festivals celebrated in India. Like many other festivals, Holi has an
ancient origin, the tradition of which has been followed for a long time. This festival has religious significance, and is associated with several mythological stories. Indians strongly believe in mythology. The moral behind all the stories is that good triumphs over evil. These tales instill the faith of man into the ultimate power of god and his mercy over his devotees. The most popular
one is that of Radha and Lord Krishna, where, he playfully
applied color on Radha's cheek, as she was fairer than him. This began the festival of Holi and the tradition of playing with colors.
During Holi, people through powdered colors at each other! People are inspired to live a virtuous life through these mythological tales. People are happy because it happens in spring when colors are bursting forth all over. The people also visit friends and wish them well. People come together duirng Holi because it is celebrating not just by Hindus, but by Sikhs and Jains as well. People will clean their houses in preparation of Holi to ensure a positive flow of energy
We stayed home on Holi last year. Not sure about this year.
March 17 is St. Patrick's Day. Lady and I do celebrate this day, when everyone is Irish! Ha! I will wear green, the traditional color of this holiday. It is celebrated wherever Irish people are. I'll tell yu more about this holiday later in the month.
March 8 is also International Women's Day. Guess I should get Lady a flower, share my lunch, or let her choose where we walk.
March 9 is Sonya's (our helper). Lady will make her a chocolate cake, but she won't eat any of it. She gave chocolate up for Lent. Lent ends on Easter Sunday April 8. We always celebrate Easter!

ReplyDeleteMe thinks on March 8th, you should definately do something nice for Lady. After all, she is the most special woman in the world to you. I like the idea of you sharing your food with her. Not sure she would eat it tho, so maybe just share some of your yummy treats instead.

ReplyDeleteYou go to some interesting places. We mostly stay around home and chase things like lizards, cats and birds. We have chased a few kangaroos, too. Oh we live in Oz. We aren't doxies, but we have a good friend who is.
