NO FAT CHOW STUDY

So, we're eating dinner and the phone rings. Well, actually we were finished but I was still asking for more chicken fried rice. Lady's American friend Vicki is in town and is NOT vegetarian. She and I had chicken fried rice and spring rolls. Lady had the veg version. She only lets me have half a cup, but I was working on Aunt Vicki with my big brown eyes.
It's the vet on the phone, wanting to know how I'm doing. How's my skin? How do I like my Royal Canin Saiety Dog Chow? Am I losing weight? Can he please give my name to the Royal Canin people who are doing a study as to the effectiveness of this chow? You see, the Indians aren't consistent with feeding their dogs the fat chow. They feed them human food, too, and the change the brand, you know, so would you please participate in this study?
Lady has this "OOPS" look on her face and just laughs. She confesses to having just given me chicken fried rice. The vet says, well, a little slip now and then...but surely you can give Maahley just the Saiety chow for two months for the study?

SURELY NOT!
Furrends, help me! I want my hummus and carrots. I want my occasional corn chip and dip. I want my occasional chicken friend rice. What happened to," Oh Marley you deserve to be happy in your senior years so I will give you fat chow in the morning and you can can a snack in the evening"?
Granted, I do like my fat chow. I stand by my bowl and wait for it. Uh oh. Do you think I won't be able to have my salmon oil supplement every other day? Or my milk every other -other day? Oh no. This isn't looking good. You gotta help me convince Lady that I should not be part of this study. We have to go back to see Dr. Kunal. I lost some of my weight gain, but I am still a bit fluffy.
I DON'T WANT TO GIVE UP MY HUMAN FOOD. HELP!

Oh Marley, Marley, Marley... what a pawdicament. There was a light in that tunnel though ... two months... TWO MONTHS... it is a finite period of time (admittedly longer under your paws, but still....) Here's a thought - how about getting all your foster folks and other friends to SPONSOR your slim time??? Then can you put some paisa to the Jeevasharm Organisation where the do lots of work to help doggies like your mate Duke. Just thinkin' out loud.... Go on little man, you can do it!!! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

    1. Actually, YAM Aunty, we are going to Pets Day Out at the Select City Walk Mall on Saturday, March 28 ! I am registered to pawticipate in a couple of events. It's put on by CAUSE 4 the PAWS! They have lots of booths from rescue organizations and shelters, vets, trainers, and pet FOOD VENDORS. It's from 12 to 8. Lady wants to take Duke to try to find him a good home, but the people on the lane might be very upset with us. We are considering it. We'd have to get a helper though as puppy Duke is too much to manage. I will post photos from Saturday.

Are vah! Vah! Vah! Yes I know of such events which take place around India... mixed success in the adoption stakes I think, however, it is wonderful that more and more Indians are seeing dogs as a value-add to life. Looking forward to your report of the day!!! Yxx

    1. Thanks, Molly. I'm still working on a plan. And Lady really does want me to enjoy life. If I can't even have my milk and my salmon oil, we may not pawticipate. Pray!

  3. Sounds dire, Marley. We think you should put your paws down to the survey. NO DOG can live on JUST kibble for two months! It's just too cruel.

  5. There's a reason my bowl sits on a placement that says "water" on one side and "nasty dry crap" on the other. I need my treats and peeps food!

    1. Hahaha, Abby! I do like my fat chow -it's very tasty and has good stuff, but I only eat it because i know I won't get the good stuff if I don't. An empty bowl means human food for dinner.

    1. Maybe a little drastic Bite. And it is only for two months. Then I go on weight management chow instead of weight loss. I'm still fighting though.
